TIFF Gifting Lounge: Bask It Style 2019

Torontonicity was invited to check out Bask-It-Style 2019, a TIFF gifting lounge, held at Thompson Toronto on September 4, 2019. The gifting lounge showcases items that will be gifted to celebrities who are staying in Toronto hotels during TIFF 2019. Media and influencers are invited to see the swag in person, as well as take home the items that will be gifted to celebrities. It’s great to feel like a celebrity for a day!

Here is a little more about some of the items in the swag:

Indigena Skincare

The Canadian skincare brand uses Boreal extracts and sea botanicals from Newfoundland and Labrador such as Labrador Tea, Sea Buckthorn, Lingonberry, Wild Rose, Bakeapple/Cloudberry, Seaweed and blueberries. TIFF celebrities will be receiving their Glowing Travel Kit, which contains Labrador Tea Day and Night Cream, Sea Veggie Face Lotion, RosePetal Eye Cream and Blueberry Bliss Lip Scrub. And it comes in a sustainable Canadian pine travel roll. The products smell divine and the texture is luxuriously silky to give you a real glow!

Amber & Ash Limited Edition Travel Tote

This travel tote was made exclusively for TIFF 2019. What I love about this tote is that it not only carries my HP EliteBook, but it doubles as a backpack. It also has a compartment that can be placed over your suitcase handle so you don’t have to lug it separately. It also has several interior and exterior pockets. It’s made from PU-coated cotton with leather accents. It’s not only functional but super stylish!

Michael Hill Jewellery

We saw some gorgeous stackable rings at Michael Hill’s booth. I fell in love with a pink sapphire ring…who knew sapphires came in pink? Celebrities will be receiving their stackable 10k gold ring with six diamonds, $449 while media and influencers received their 10k gold mini hoop earrings, $139.

Turo

If you haven’t heard of Turo, they are a peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace. You can book any car in the marketplace – they have over 850 makes and models available! Alternatively, if you have a car you don’t use that often, you can register it on Turo so that you can make some money to pay for things like gas and insurance. And you don’t have to worry if the person driving your car gets into an accident…Turo has their own insurance so you don’t have to make a claim on yours. Media and influencers received a $200 Turo credit and got a chance to have their photo taken with the DeLorean that was used in the Michael J. Fox movie, Back To The Future.

MONAT Global

MONAT combines science and nature to provide age prevention hair and skin care products. MONAT’s ingredients are vegan, naturally based, sustainable, cruelty free and Leaping Bunny certified. Tru Niagen Supplement

We spoke via email to Tru Niagen’s Chief Scientific Advisor, Dr. Charles Brenner, to learn more about Tru Niagen:

LB: Is Tru Niagen 100% natural?

CB: The active ingredient in Tru Niagen™ is a nature-identical, synthesized form of a unique vitamin B3 known as nicotinamide riboside (NR). It is identical structurally and functionally to naturally-occurring NR found in trace amounts in milk.

LB: What positive results may someone see after taking Tru Niagen for a month?

CB: Tru Niagen™ will start increasing NAD levels shortly after you take it and will continue to maintain those elevated NAD levels with regular supplementation. As with any supplement or new health routine, your experiences will vary depending on your age, diet, exercise, and sleep habits. It may take some time to feel the benefits of increased NAD (promoting cellular repair, increasing cellular energy, etc.), but ultimately Tru Niagen is helping your cells remain energized and resilient in the face of everyday stresses.



LB: How does Tru Niagen interact with the body’s processes e.g. does it speed up metabolism?

Studies show our NAD levels decline as we age by as much as 50% between the ages of 40–60. The less we have of it, the harder it is for our cells to stay healthy as we age.

LB: I have read that some people experience more energy after taking Tru Niagen? Does taking Tru Niagen affect one’s sleep pattern at all?

CB: No adverse effects have been attributed to our product during published clinical trials. As with any form of supplementation, if you experience any prolonged discomfort or side effects, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider.

LB: Are there any people who should not take Tru Niagen e.g. people with high blood pressure, pregnant or menopausal women?
