
Family Day is Monday, February 17, 2020. It’s the perfect mid-winter break we need to get through the winter. Hey, it started snowing in Toronto in November 2019 so we’ve unofficially already had three months of winter! Family Day weekend was established as a mid-winter break to enjoy time with loved ones. There are a lot of fun Family Day weekend events in Toronto taking place. Family Day at Evergreen Brick Works
If you are looking for things to do Family Day weekend in Toronto 2020 for both adults and kids, you’ll want to check out Family Day at Evergreen Brick Works. Kids can learn about gardening during Nature Play at the Children’s Garden from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020. The Children’s Garden includes access to sand and water play, greenhouse and urban agriculture zones and quiet zones for reading. Children are encouraged to bring a vegetable to add to the Stone Soup. Adults can enjoy beer from local craft brewers at The Brewer’s Backyard from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Young Welcome Centre and BMO Atrium. Breweries on site include 5 Paddles, Black Oak, Great Lakes Brewery, Shacklands, Junction and Beaus. Enjoy dishes from local food vendors.
Family Day hours at Evergreen Brick Works are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Evergreen Brick Works is located at 550 Bayview Avenue, 416-596-7670.
KidsFestTO at International Centre
Take the kids to enjoy Family Day Weekend 2020 at KidsFestTO at the International Centre, Hall 6. Kids Fest Toronto features over 30 inflatable rides including large slides for the big kids and toddler-approved gentle rides. Other activities include entertaining shows, interactive activities, games, and crafts. Hours are Saturday, February 15, 2020, Sunday, February 16, 2020 and Monday, February 17, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Adults $8; Children $25 (admission includes unlimited rides). International Centre is located at 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga. Free parking.

Jungle Book at Young People’s Theatre
Jungle Book is being performed at the Young People’s Theatre on Family Day Weekend 2020. Jungle Book takes the audience from the urban jungle to Mowgli’s childhood in the forests of India – with Baloo the Bear, Bagheera the Panther, and more of your favourites along for the journey! Performances on Family Day Weekend 2020 are on Feb. 15-17, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Adult $10-$43; Senior (65+) and Youth (1-18) $10-$38. Young People’s Theatre is located at 165 Front St. E., 416-862-2222 x 2.
Leslieville Flea at The Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District
The Leslieville Flea will take place on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the basement of The Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District. Shop for vintage, and up-cycled goods including jewellery, handbags, antiques, furniture, collectibles and crafts from over 50 vendors. The Fermenting Cellar is located at 28 Distillery Lane. There is metered parking right outside or on Mill Street.
Ontario Science Centre Family Day Weekend Events
Ontario Science Centre is a popular attraction for Toronto families during Family Day Weekend. MindWorks is a new exhibition that focuses on the inner workings of your mind. Rooted in psychology, MindWorks brings mental processes like decision-making, memory and emotions to life through colourful, playful and fun hands-on exhibits.
Enjoy the Family Food Game Show where the audience tries to guess the most likely survey responses regarding food tidbits. A select few will be chosen to compete on stage. The show takes place 12:30 & 2:30 p.m. (+ 4:30 p.m. Saturdays) and is approximately 30 minutes. Located at the Rock Paper Science Hall, Level 6. Limited seating.
IMAX Dome Films playing during Family Day Weekend are Apollo II: First Steps Edition; Great Bear Rainforest; Oceans: Our Blue Planet; Superpower Dogs; Volcanoes: The Fires of Creation. Admission to Ontario Science Centre is Adults (18-64) $22, Youth (13-17)/Student with ID/Senior (65+) $16, Child (3-12) $13 and 2 and under Free. IMAX film is $9 extra. Ontario Science Centre hours are Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
Saturday:Â 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday and Holidays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Come From Away at Royal Alexandra Theatre
The popular musical about Newfoundlanders who stepped up to house passengers on grounded airplanes during 9/11 has performances during Family Day Weekend 2020 including on Fri., Feb. 14, 2020 at 8 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 15, 2020 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sun., Feb. 16, 2020 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $175, $149, $119, $99, $79, $59 and $25 and can be purchased online.

Toronto Light Festival 2020
The Toronto Light Festival is a free event at the Distillery District, showcasing gorgeous light installations. Check out Lory Diaz’s blog post on her visit to the Toronto Light Festival 2019. The Toronto Light Festival runs from January 17, 2020 until March 1, 2020. The Distillery District is located at 55 Mill Street (Parliament and Front Streets).
Kids Visit Free on Family Day at Hockey Hall of Fame
Kids receive free admission on Family Day, Monday, February 17, 2020, as well as a free gift, can play within the five interactive stations for goaltending, shooting, play-by-play calling, have their photo taken with the mascot Slapshot, and the Stanley Cup! End your visit with a free kids meal at The Bottom Line Restaurant located next to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Must present your adult admission receipt at The Bottom Line to receive one free kids meal with the purchase of one regular-priced entrée. Free admission applies for a maximum of 4 youth (13 and under) with the purchase of one regular price adult admission that is purchased on-site.
Winter Light Exhibition at Ontario Place
Enjoy Family Day 2020 at Ontario Place at the 3rd annual Winter Light Exhibition on the West Island. Using creativity, innovation, and light, Ontario creators from all artistic streams will showcase their exhibits following the theme of “Cocoon”. The Winter Light Exhibition takes place every day from February 8 to March 29, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Fridays through Sundays, enjoy community bonfires and purchase food and beverage in the snack shop. Ontario Place is located at 955 Lake Shore Blvd West, Toronto.

Bus Trip to New York City
Enjoy Family Day by taking a bus trip to New York City with Tripon from Feb. 14-16, 2020. Trip fee includes two night’s stay at a reputable hotel near New York City, two breakfasts and all taxes.
