December has been quite the whirlwind for me because we moved on December 1st! I do not recommend moving near the holidays! I am still trying to locate things in our new house, which can be super frustrating! Fortunately, I did the bulk of my Christmas shopping in late October and early November, did some Christmas baking before we moved, and put it in the freezer, wrote my Christmas cards in mid-November and even had my Christmas presents wrapped before we moved. I also went and bought our real Christmas tree before we moved and had the movers take it to our new house and put it up in our Christmas tree stand…bonus!
So despite the move, I am actually almost ready for Christmas. Read further to find out what I’m crushing on in December 2021!
I recently received a Ninja Foodi XL Pro Grill & Griddle and absolutely love this all-encompassing appliance! This smart grill reaches a high heat of 500°F so I can barbecue indoors all year long. The grill is large enough to fit up to six steaks and there are no cold zones! My favourite part of this grill and griddle is the air fryer! I have already made Air Fryer Cauliflower several times. Temperature control allows for precise cooking. The Ninja Foodi XL Pro Grill & Griddle, $469.99, will be available in Canada in 2022 at NinjaKitchen.ca, Canadian Tire and other retailers.
I love Olivia Coleman in The Crown so when my cousin recommended that I watch Broadchurch and I found out that Olivia Coleman was in it, I knew it was going to be good. This British crime drama focuses on the murder of a teenage boy in the fictional town of Broadchurch in Dorset. Detective Inspector Alec Hardy (David Tennant) and his colleague Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller (played by Coleman) investigate the murder and discover that many townspeople have a motive, as well as a whole slew of shocking secrets. The prickly chemistry between Hardy and Miller is one of the reasons this series is worth watching; the story’s twists and turns will keep you riveted until you have time to watch the next episode. Broadchurch may be leaving Netflix Canada soon so if you are planning on watching this series, I suggest you do it now.
I am loving my ELLE “Ocean” Three-Tone Cubic Zirconia Earrings, $139, from Charm Diamond Centres. These aren’t your everyday earrings; they are meant to be worn when going out! I love the fluidity of the earrings exemplified by the three “waves” in gold, silver, and rose-gold tones. The three different metal tones also make these earrings extremely versatile since they can be worn with both silver and gold jewelry. Made from sterling silver and rhodium-plated with cubic zirconia, the earrings are approximately 1.65″ long and .3″ wide so they are quite light to wear. You can purchase these earrings online at Charm Diamond Centres. They would make a great gift for the woman in your life this Christmas!
I have made these Cranberry White Chocolate Bars during previous Christmases and have made them again this year. Unlike many people, I prefer white chocolate to medium or dark chocolate so these really hit the mark with me. Plus, they contain sweetened condensed milk and everything tastes good with sweetened condensed milk, right? White chocolate is very sweet so these bars are balanced by the tartness of the cranberries. The best thing about these Christmas bars is they are so easy to make!
All’s Well by Mona Awad
All’s Well focuses on Miranda Fitch, a theatre professor suffering from chronic pain, who wants to put on a production of Shakespeare’s All’s Well That Ends Well. If you are not familiar with this work, it is one of Shakespeare’s problem plays – neither a comedy nor a tragedy! Her students, however, would prefer to perform “The Scottish Play”. Miranda meets three strange men who are aware of Miranda’s past and promise that her show will go on and her students will get what’s coming to them. All’s Well borrows tropes from both plays so if you are a student of Shakespeare, you will particularly love this book, although it certainly isn’t necessary to appreciate the story.
