Dream in High Park 2022

Dream in High Park returns for summer 2022 with Shakespeare’s romcom As You Like It at High Park Amphitheatre. In this pastoral comedy, Frederick has usurped a duchy in France and exiled his brother, Duke Senior. Duke Senior’s daughter, Rosalind, also gets banished from court. Orlando is in love with Rosalind. Rosalind and her cousin Celia disguise as men and escape to the Forest of Eden where s/he encounters an unknowing Orlando and gives him some advice about love. The outdoor play will feature new music by Serena Ryder, Kiran Ahluwalia and Maryem Tollar. Performances on the August long weekend 2022 are on Friday, July 29, 2022, 8 p.m. (preview), Saturday, July 30, 2022, 8 p.m. (opening night), and Sunday, July 31, 2022, 8 p.m. Tickets are $30. Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grande Parade 2022

Undoubtedly, the most popular of Toronto events on the Civic Holiday weekend 2022 is the Caribbean (formerly Caribana) Parade. After a 2-year absence due to COVID, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grande Parade returns in summer 2022. The parade takes place on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Exhibition Place. Watch over 10,000 masqueraders perform, with additional live performances. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Purchase a costume to participate in the parade. Tickets are Teens/Adults $35 plus HST; Kids 12 and under $15 plus HST; Seniors (65+) $25 plus HST; and VIP (19+) $150 plus HST.

Sam Fender at Danforth Music Hall

U.K. singer Sam Fender performs at Danforth Music Hall on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 7 p.m. Available tickets are $172.55, $183.26, $191.59 and $476 and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster. This is an All Ages event. Danforth Music Hall is located at 147 Danforth Avenue.

The Toronto Food Truck Festival 2022

The Toronto Food Truck Festival returns to Woodbine Park in 2022 from Thursday, July 28, 2022 to Monday, August 1, 2022. Enjoy a wide variety of cuisine including vegetarian, vegan, Halal and gluten free options from popular Toronto Food Trucks, while listening to live music. Beer will be available for purchase. Some of the food trucks at the festival include Philthy Philly’s, Donia’s Donair, HK Station, Cheesecake by Heirloom, The Hogfather, Choco Churros, Pharaohs Kitchen, Buster’s Sea Cove, The Arepa Republic, Heavenly Dreams Ice Cream, Alijandro’s, Food Dudes, Craig’s Cookies, Meltdown Cheesery, Lowlands, and Casalingo Burger. Contestants will be participating in eating challenges to win prizes. DJ and music performances by Acustic on Fire, Just Journey, Dramazoid, Keep The Faith and Double The Pleasure. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre

Kids and adults alike will enjoy seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre. This show features a new generation of wizards who must cast tantalizing spells as they race to stop unknown forces. Performances on the Civic Holiday weekend are on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $109, $129, $149, $169, $174 and $199 and can be purchased online or by calling 1-800-461-3333. Run time is 3 hours and 20 minutes with intermission. CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre is located at 244 Victoria Street.

Concerts at Harbourfront Centre 2022

Harbourfront Centre is offering several concerts and performances on the August long weekend 2022:

Island Soul Comedy Night with Trixx and Friends

Taking place on Friday, July 29, 2022 and Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 8 p.m. at Harbourfront Centre Theatre, the Island Soul Comedy Night features top comedians from North America including Ty Davis, Big Irish and Marlon Palmer. The evening is hosted by Canada’s own Trixx. Performance is 120 minutes. Tickets are $15-$50 and Pay What You Wish. Harbourfront Centre Theatre is located at 231 Queens Quay West.

Jay Douglas & The All Stars

This free concert on Saturday, July 30, 2022, 8 p.m. at the Concert Stage at Harbourfront Centre features Jay Douglas & The All Stars with Nana McLean and The Arsenals. The concert is a tribute to Jamaica’s 60th anniversary of independence.

A Black Girl in Love (with herself)

Trey Anthony performs at Harbourfront Centre Theatre on Sunday, July 31, 2022 and Monday, August 1, 2022 at 8 p.m. in this one woman show, A Black Girl in Love (with herself). Civic Holiday Weekend at Ontario Place 2022

Enjoy a free concert at Ontario Place on Friday, July 1, 2022.  Celebrate the First Nation’s heritage and culture with a walk through Trillium Park to the moccasin identifier engraved into the stone and visit 1000 Faces, the contemporary art installation that invites visitors to pause and reflect, encouraging communion, dialogue, reconciliation and relation.

There are also several free daily screenings at Cinesphere of IMAX documentary films Asteroid Hunters and The Last Glaciers, as well as several outdoor yoga classes in Trillium Park. You can also take a self- guided tour in partnership with ArtWorxTO. Kids can build fun sculptures at Imagination Playground.

You can also beat the heat at the new attraction, Lake Shore Inflatable Waterpark – Ontario’s largest and tallest water experience! Explore the rolling hills of the William G. Davis trail and West Island by Segway with two tours daily. Meander down to Electric Island festival – a fully licensed concert and picnic series taking place on the West Island on July 1, 2022 and July 2, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m..

Chris Brown & Lil Baby at Budweiser Stage

Chris Brown & Lil Bay make an appearance on the August long weekend in Toronto at the Budweiser Stage (formerly Molson Amphitheatre).
