I have fond memories of going with my grandmother to visit her friend who lived about an hour north of Toronto to pick raspberries from her garden. My grandmother would make raspberry jam from those sweet berries, which we would enjoy throughout the fall and winter. Nowadays, I enjoy raspberries on their own or added to plain yogourt for breakfast. Nothing compares to an Ontario raspberry! If you love raspberries as much as I do, you’ll be happy to know that raspberry season has begun in Ontario! You can take your family or friends to pick your own raspberries near Toronto. It makes a fun day trip and you’ll be able to enjoy raspberries for weeks to come. Continue reading to find out where to go raspberry picking near Toronto. I have included several farms where you can pick your own raspberries in Toronto and the GTA.

Strawberry Creek Farms, Newmarket

Strawberry Creek Farms are now open for pick your own raspberries as of Monday, July 11, 2022. This Newmarket berry farm also offers pick-your-own peas and beans. Prices for pick-your-own raspberries for 2022 are $5.50 per lb. Please check in with a staff member upon arrival for picking instructions. Bring your own containers or use containers provided by the farm. If you are bringing your own containers, bring them to the strawberry hut or to the cashier inside to have them weighed before filling them with raspberries. No dogs are allowed. There is also no snacking of raspberries permitted. You can purchases vegetables, baked goods, Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream, free range grain fed chicken eggs, Sheldon Creek milk products, pastas and pasta sauces and frozen meat pies at their onsite market. Strawberry Creek Farm is located at 17471 Woodbine Avenue, Newmarket, 905-868-9996, and there is no admission fee. Hours are Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Sunday.



Stonehaven Farm Market, Milton

Pick your own raspberries are available towards the end of July at this Milton berry farm. Stonehaven Farm offers a prepaid flat rate system using small (2 lb.) and large (4 lb.) containers only. Prices for pick-your-own raspberries for 2022 will be announced shortly. Check their website, which will be updated with prices and opening date for pick your own raspberries. A minimum small container purchase is required for every two persons age 5 and up. Children 5 and under are free. Purchase raspberry containers at the country cabin beside the market. Ready-picked raspberries can be purchased at the market. No food or drinks are allowed except baby bottles and/or sip cups. Last entry for pick-your-own raspberries is 4 p.m. Stonehaven Farm Market, 7388 Guelph Line, Milton, 905-878-1870.

Andrews’ Scenic Acres, Milton

This Milton pick-your-own berry farm also has pick-your-own raspberries, blueberries, gooseberries, currants, apples, sweet corn and pumpkins. Pick your own raspberries are now available at Andrews’ Scenic Acres. Bring your own baskets to save some money. The cost of pick-your-own raspberries is not included with the entrance fee. Please pay for the raspberries you pick at the farm store. Light strawberry, light blueberry, and rhubarb are also available for picking. You can also pick your own flowers including lilies, dahlias, sunflowers and gladioli. Admission is Adults/Children 5 and over $15 plus HST; Seniors $7.50 plus HST and under 5 Free. Admission includes access to farm animal corral, wagon rides, playground, straw mountain climb and walking paths. Seniors (65+) receive half off admission. Pick your own raspberries prices are to be determined. Andrews’ Scenic Acres is open every day from May 2022 to October 31, 2022 including holidays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Andrews’ Scenic Acres is located at 9365 10th Sideroad in Milton, 905-878-5807 (enter Halton on GPS). Take Hwy 401 west to Trafalgar Road (Exit 328), drive north for 7 kilometres to Sideroad #10 (Ashgrove), turn west and drive for another 7 km.

Downey’s Farm Market, Caledon

Downey’s Farm Market is now open for pick your own raspberries for the 2022 season. Containers will be provided; do not bring your own containers, large purses or bags. There is no admission charge, but each person must spend a minimum $8.00 for pick your own raspberries. Pick-your-own raspberry prices are as follows:

1 litre basket – $8 (maximum 1 person)
3 litre basket – $24 (maximum 3 people)

No pets, strollers or wagons allowed in the field. Pick your own raspberries are available from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the last admission at 3:30 p.m.

Downey’s Farmyard includes calves, llama, sheep, rabbits, goats, Goat Mountain Slide, Trike Treck, Speedway, Jumping Pillows, Cowhide Slide, Pirate’s Cove, Chicken Show, Corn Bin and mini-putt golf. Admission to Downey’s Farmyard is $16 plus HST for ages 2-92. Downey’s Farm Bakery features freshly made bread and pies. No outside food, drinks or pets are allowed. Downey’s Farm Market is located at 13682 Heart Lake Rd., north of Brampton, 905-838-2990. Parking is free.

Brooks Farms, Mount Albert

Brooks Farms offers pick-your-own raspberries, strawberries, Saskatoon berries, gooseberries, snow and sugar snap peas, red and black currants, apples, squash, and pumpkins throughout the year. All produce is available pre-picked. Pick-your-own raspberries are now available for the summer 2022 season. Purple, red and black raspberries are available. Purchase a basket (there are various sizes) at the farm before entering the field and then fill your basket with raspberries. Do not bring outside baskets. Everyone ages 6 and up must have their own basket. Groups are limited to a maximum of five people. Pick-your-own fruit is about half the price of picked fruit so it’s much cheaper to pick your own raspberries rather than buying raspberries at the grocery store. Brooks Farms is located at 122 Ashworth Road, Mount Albert, 905-473-6192. Drive north on Hwy 404 to the Vivian/Mulock exit at Newmarket. Turn right on Vivian Road. Drive east to Hwy 48, turn left on Hwy 48 and turn right on Mount Albert Road. Drive 2 km. east to Durham 30 and Ashworth Road where you’ll find the farm ahead on the left. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
