Torontonicity was invited to a media dinner on March 7, 2023 to have a look at the new Canopy Toronto Yorkville. A collaboration of Hilton, Easton’s Group of Hotels and The Gupta Group, this boutique hotel is situated on Bloor Street East, just east of Yorkville. Overlooking Rosedale Valley, Canopy Toronto Yorkville is the first Canopy by Hilton hotel in Canada. The 184-room hotel was designed by Studio Munge and incorporates thoughtful and elegant design. The earthy neutral decor includes oak features to evoke natural elements while copper accents represent the sparkle of the city. The lobby will feature a local art collection.
Before enjoying dinner at the restaurant’s main restaurant, Dia, media were given a tour of the hotel and rooms. Canopy Toronto Yorkville places wellness and sustainability high on its priorities. Rooms are decorated in calming neutrals with ultra modern furnishings. You won’t find a plastic bottle in sight – rooms are supplied with glass water bottles that can be refilled at filtered water stations in the hallways. Some guest rooms (“Just-Right” rooms) feature the brand’s canopy bed. Fitness buffs will enjoy the fact that some rooms are equipped with Peloton bikes.

Rooms make use of space by eliminating the need for a refrigerator and replacing it with a refrigerated drawer that is part of the desk. The drawer is large enough to fit several wine bottles! Room decor such as framed prints of Toronto streets and “The 6ix” sign hanging on the wall remind visitors they’re staying in Toronto.

Need to adjust the lighting or close the drapes? You don’t even have to get out of bed to do that! There is a control panel beside the bed that allows you to customize these settings.
Bathrooms are ultra contemporary and feature sinks that are separate from the toilet area, a large oval mirror for grooming and frosted glass shower doors.

Hotel amenities include a lap pool (which is not open yet) and fully-equipped fitness room. Cyclists will love the fact that there are three complimentary bikes available to borrow from the hotel to tour throughout the city. Meeting rooms feature recessed and tube tube lighting and drop-down screens for presentations.
Canopy Toronto Yorkville makes it super convenient for guests who arrive early. If your room isn’t ready, guests can use the complimentary Transfer Lounge to store their luggage. The lounge is also equipped with a shower in case you need to refresh after a long flight. Luxury personal care items are available for purchase.

Executive Chef and Lead Culinary Enthusiast Justin Raponi oversees the hotel’s restaurants. Dia features sustainable, local fare and is the place for relaxing meals and cocktails. Dia offers a signature wine program and sample drink offerings as a part of Canopy’s evening tastings. Virtu CafĂ© & Provisions, which will open in a few months, will offer a lighter menu that incorporates local cultural influences and purposefully-sourced ingredients.
