The Canada Day weekend is approaching! Where has the year gone? This year, Canada Day falls on Saturday, July 1, 2023 so we have a true three-day weekend to enjoy! With most businesses and attractions now open, you won’t have trouble finding things to do Canada Day in Toronto. Maybe you are headed up north to your cottage or if you are lucky, you will be a guest at someone else’s cottage. If you are staying in the city, continue reading to find out about Toronto events on the Canada Day weekend in 2023.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre

Kids and adults alike will enjoy seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre. It’s your last chance to see this long-running Toronto show since it closes on July 2, 2023. This show features a new generation of wizards who must cast tantalizing spells as they race to stop unknown forces. Performances on the Canada Day weekend are on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $109, $129, $149, $169, $174 and $199 and can be purchased online or by calling 1-800-461-3333. Run time is 3 hours and 20 minutes with intermission. CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre is located at 244 Victoria Street.


Q107 Canada Day Picnic 2023

Enjoy Canada Day 2022 celebrations hosted by Q107 at Woodbine Park on Friday, June 30, 2023 and Saturday, July 1, 2023 beginning at 12 noon. There will be food vendors, beer at the Muskoka Brewery Beer Garden and tribute bands performing on the Main Stage including:

Summer Music in the Garden Concert at Harbourfront 2023

The Summer Music in the Garden free concert series returns to Harbourfront Centre in 2023. The program includes 18 free concerts held in the Toronto Music Garden on most Thursdays and Sundays from June 21, 2023 to August 27, 2023. On Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 4 p.m., the concert From Baghdad to Toronto will feature the group Moneka Arabic Jazz led by Ahmed Moneka. Moneka Arabic Jazz is a project reflecting Ahmed Moneka’s journey to and culture in the Toronto music scene, mingling the “maqam” style of Arabic musical skills he learned growing up in Baghdad, Iraq with African groove and rhythm that he inherited from his African descendants.

East York Canada Day Festival 2023

Enjoy a Canada Day parade that begins at Dieppe Park at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023 and continues to Stan Wadlow Park, where you can take in Canada Day celebrations. From 11 a.m. on, there will be entertainment on the Main Stage, a midway, kids’ activities, food vendors, an artisan market and a beer garden hosted by Muddy York. The day will end with fireworks presented by the City of Toronto. Stan Wadlow Park is located at 373 Cedarvale Avenue. Parking is limited. You are encouraged to take TTC.



Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre

One of the most popular Toronto events on the Canada Day weekend in 2022 is the Blue Jays game! Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette and the Toronto Blue Jays play the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre. Games will be played on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 7:07 p.m., Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 3:07 p.m. and Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 1:37 p.m. Tickets are $28, $66.50, $74.80, $85.60, $93.80, and $109. SummerSeries in Trillium Park at Ontario Place 2023

SummerSeries in Trillium Park begins on July 1, 2023 and runs each weekend until Monday, Sunday, September 3, 2023. The free family-friendly series will offer music performances, arts and crafts, yoga classes for adults and kids, face painting, airbrush tattoos, a photo booth, a henna booth, a communal bonfire and food and beverages (for purchase).

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, there will be performances by DJ Shane, The Fuddles, DJ MelBoogie, River Christie-White (Hoop Dancer), Manitou Mkwa Singers, Afropan Steelband, uRequest Live (cover band) and The Soul Motivators.

Divina Dali

If you are a fan of Salvador Dali, you’ll want to visit Divina Dalí on the Canada Day Weekend. The exhibit at Brookfield Place features over 110 authentic works, showcasing three imaginary worlds: Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Each realm presents Dalí’s surreal vision, allowing guests to enter into the depths of his imagination. For serious Dali fans, Divina Dalí offers exclusive pieces that should not be missed, including a monumental sculpture created by Dalí in 1945, previously maintained in a private collection for over 50 years. The exhibit also includes never-before-seen photographs of Dalí and a rare work of art from his collaboration with Alfred Hitchcock for the 1945 film, Spellbound.

Tickets are $33.50 plus taxes and service charges; Students $25 plus taxes and service charges; Child (6 to 12 years old), $19 plus taxes and service charges; Children under age 5 Free. Groups of 8 or more are 15% off. Tickets can be purchased directly from the Divina Dalí website. Brookfield Place is located at 181 Bay Street.
