Bask-It-Style 2023 TIFF Gifting Lounge at Fairmont Royal York

I was excited to again be invited to preview the Bask-It-Style 2023 TIFF gifting lounge held at the Fairmont Royal York on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. The annual gifting lounge showcases products that will be given to visiting celebrities at the Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from September 7-17, 2023. The products selected are intended to help their stay be a little less stressful during the hectic pace of media interviews and screenings at the festival.

I and several other media visited the various booths in the Manitoba Room to speak to company representatives about their products. Our first stop was the Soda Stream booth!

SodaStream, which allows you to make custom healthy sparkling water drinks at home, has introduced the new SodaStream Art Sparkling Water Maker. This sleek looking machine comes in black, white and orange and will look great on your kitchen counter! The machines are easy to use and you can adjust the amount of fizzle in your drinks. Making your own sparkling water is not only healthy since you control how much sugar you add to your drink, but it is also environmentally-friendly since you eliminate the need to purchase water in plastic bottles.

We then learned about D.O. Rueda Wines from Spain, whose wine production began in the 16th century! D.O. Rueda has 78 wineries with over 30 of them featuring female winemakers. Media were able to sample some of R.O. Rueda’s finest wine brands and got to take a bottle of their choice home. I took home the Protos Verdejo 2022.

We then met with representatives from Philips Sonicare to learn about the new Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige electric toothbrush, which features SenseIQ technology that gives you feedback on how you are brushing your teeth. It has been shown to remove up to 20x more plaque, which results in healthier gums. In fact, my dentist recommended this electric toothbrush to me! Philips Sonicare also has introduced their Cordless Power Flosser 3000 with Quad Stream technology, which cleans more area of your mouth with less effort. I can’t wait to transition from manual flossing to power flossing!

Victoria Beckham has always been a style icon so I was eager to check out her Victoria Beckham Eyewear collection. The frames for both regular glasses and sunglasses are very modern, bold and over-sized with both sharp angles and rounder-shaped frames for all types of faces. I saw a pair of sunglasses I immediately liked. What do you think?

Marc Anthony is a leading Canadian hair product brand that was established to provide affordable professional hair care products. Stylists from Marc Anthony were giving blowouts to guests at Bask-It-Style 2023. I was excited to get my hair styled by Toni, who gave me soft beach waves, which I loved. I also got to take home several Marc Anthony products including their new Repair Bond +Rescuplex Defrizzing Smoothing Cream, which will take the frizz out of my hair. For those days when I want to highlight the natural wave of my hair, I’ll use their new Strictly Curls Define & Hold Flex Gel. I’m excited to try these products at home!

O.P.I., one of my favourite nail polish brands, featured their Big Zodiac Energy nail polish collection that includes nail polishes for every zodiac sign. O.P.I. was also offering complimentary manicures, which I accepted. I had a very pleasant and relaxing manicure with Arvella. I chose the “Gemini and I” shade, even though I’m a Leo, because I wanted a light neutral on my nails that would go with several outfits I’m wearing to TIFF events. Media received all 12 O.P.I. nail polishes from the collection!

Astrologer Renata was on hand, courtesy of O.P.I., to provide complimentary astrological readings. Having an avid interest in astrology, I couldn’t pass this up. Renata looked at my astrological chart and advised me about certain areas and issues in my life that were on my radar and required my attention.

Next, we stopped by Stila, to see the new products from their Be Your Own Artist Fall 2023 Collection that updates 90s makeup trends. Media were given the opportunity to have their make-up done by a Stila make-up artist. I received several products from their Be Your Own Artist Fall 2023 Collection, which will be available in stores in October 2023, including:

If you want to protect your skin from the sun, yet still want to rock a golden tan, St. Tropez offers a line of tanning mousses, gels and serums that include Hyaluronic acid. We met with reps from St. Tropez who explained how to use their products. Their popular Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse will last up to 10 days. The self-tan will gradually lighten after application without creating blotchy patches. St. Tropez products also include safe synthetics in all of their products.

Other products in the gift bag were David’s Tea Perfect Mug with infuser and lid and Valerian Nights Calming Caramel & Coconut Tea and Toronto Popcorn Garlic Parmesan Popcorn.
