The month is almost over and I realized that I hadn’t shared what I’m crushing on for September yet. Does anyone else feel that September went by too quickly? Fall is my favourite season and I want to savour every moment of it by enjoying brisk, autumn walks wrapped in cozy, knit sweaters while admiring the bronze-, burnt orange- and maroon-coloured foliage. After an energizing and soul-awakening walk, I love to return home to a steaming cup of Rooibos tea and crack open the spine of a captivating novel. Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow

I recently attended Bask-It-Style TIFF gifting lounge and received several new Stila products from their new Be Your Own Artist Collection. One of the items I am crushing on is the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Kitten Karma. This shade is a combination of champagne, silver and copper with glitter added! I wear it alone on my eyelids or on top of a beige powdered eyeshadow to give it more depth of colour. It’s the perfect neutral shade for fall to pair with burgundy-, green- or rust-coloured outfits! The eyeshadow retails for $34 and can be purchased online at Stila or Sephora.

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel

SkinCeuticals has introduced a line of Hyaluronic Acid serums that offer superior hydration. The SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel, which combines Vitamin B5 with Hyaluronic Acid, has found a permanent place in my daily skincare routine. What I love about this Hyaluronic Acid hydrating gel is it is light and NOT sticky! My skin feels very soft and supple several hours after applying it. I also like that it is free of oil, parabens, alcohol, dyes and fragrances.

I know that my skin is dehydrated, but I’m always amazed at how my skin absorbs this hydrating gel so quickly! Apply the gel after applying your Vitamin C serum and before your moisturizer and SPF. SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel is $108 and can be purchased online at SkinCeuticals.

Virgin River TV Series on Netflix

We’ve been watching Virgin River at our house for the past four weeks and are seriously hooked! This romantic drama focuses on Registered Nurse Melinda (Mel) Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge of This Is Us), who, after losing her husband in a car accident, relocates to Virgin River in Northern California. (By the way, the series is filmed in British Columbia and, needless to say, features stunning scenery!) While healing from her trauma, she meets local bar owner Jack Sheridan with whom she develops a romantic relationship. Jack, however, has a lot of baggage, including experiencing PTSD from active duty in Iraq and an ex-girlfriend who is pregnant with his baby. Of course there are several other intriguing sub-plots taking place which involve the interesting characters of Virgin River! The well-written script features great acting from the cast, which is one of the reasons we have been tuning in!

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Taking place during WWII, the Pulitzer-Prize-winning All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr focuses on the interconnectedness of two characters: The first is 12-year-old, blind Marie-Laure, who lives with her father, a locksmith at the Museum of Natural History. They flee to the town of Saint-Malo, home of her great uncle, after the Nazis occupy Paris. Unknown to Marie-Laure, her father has brought with them the museum’s most valuable jewel. Meanwhile, in Germany, teenaged Werner Pfennig lives in an orphanage with his younger sister. Werner shows an innate ability to fix radios and is tapped to provide his expertise to track down the resistance.

This layered story had me riveted from the first page. The exceptional, lyrical writing is surpassed only by the depth of character development. This is a flawless achievement and a must-read for any fiction lover!

I hope you enjoyed reading about what I’m crushing on in September 2023. What are you looking forward to most about fall?
