A new Healthy Planet store has opened at Yonge and Dundas Streets and I was invited to the launch.

Healthy Planet started out by offering vitamins and supplements, but then later expanded to include a wide variety of healthy foods. Supporting the local economy, Healthy Planet carries a wide variety of smaller Canadian food brands that you won’t see in the large grocery chains. They have now grown to include 35 stores in Canada with more to open in the coming year.
I was given a tour of the new, two-storey location by Healthy Planet’s General Manager Muhammed Mohamedy. We started on the second floor where the vitamins, supplements and sports nutrition products are located, as well as organic fair trade coffee, herbal tea and other eco-friendly household products. There is also a large section devoted to organic and/or natural skincare products. I saw many of my favourite natural skincare brands including Province Apothecary, Derma E, Carina Organics, Green Beaver, Dr. Bonner’s and Giddy Yoyo.

The main floor is where you’ll find frozen foods, oils, juices, healthy snacks, organic canned goods and a small fresh food section, as well as ready made foods.

After my tour of the store, I was treated to a sampling of freshly-prepared dishes from Healthy Planet Kitchen, which is located on the main floor. Place your order at the kitchen counter and then sit and enjoy your meal at the lunch bar with windows onlooking Yonge Street. You can purchase soups, salads, bowls, wraps, sandwiches, pizza, smoothies, healthy snacks and baked goods at Healthy Planet Kitchen.
My lunch included Butternut Squash Soup, Zoodle Salad, Avocado Smash Quinoa Salad, Veggie Sandwich and Chicken Caesar Salad. Everything was incredibly fresh!

I was given the opportunity to shop for items in the store and I chose the following:
- Prairie Naturals Grass Fed Beef Bone Broth Powder
- Organika Enhanced Collagen Powder
- Chosen Foods 100% Pure Avocado Oil
- Stash Strawberry Pomegranate Herbal Tea with Rooibos
- Pacha Soap Co Jasmine Gardenia Bar Soap

I can’t wait to try the beef bone broth powder alone or as the base for soups. Beef bone broth is so nutrient-dense and boosts collagen, supports and improves digestion and improves joint pain.
Healthy Planet at 322 Yonge Street is a great addition to this vibrant neighbourhood. Many local residents will appreciate being able to walk to this convenient Yonge and Dundas location to stop in and pick up healthy food options. Thank you for inviting me! I can’t wait to return!
