A total solar eclipse will take place on Monday, April 8, 2024 and it will be visible in Toronto, as well as all of the eastern provinces. During a solar eclipse, the moon will pass between the sun and earth, resulting in the sky appearing dark. The eclipse will begin at 2:04 p.m. EDT. The peak of the eclipse will take place at 3:19 p.m. EDT, and it will finish at 4:31 p.m. EDT.

To give you an idea of how rare these eclipses are, we won’t see another Total Solar Eclipse in Canada until March 30, 2033 and that will be visible from Alaska. A subsequent Total Solar Eclipse will take place on August 23, 2044, which will be visible in Canada and particularly in Alberta. For astrology buffs, the solar eclipse will occur in Aries. You can read what the eclipse will mean for your astrological sign here. Continue reading to find out where to watch April 8, 2024 solar eclipse in Toronto.

Warning: Do not look at the sun during a solar eclipse as it could cause damage to your retinas. Looking at the sun through a camera lens, telescope, or binoculars even if you are wearing solar eclipse glasses will cause serious eye injury.
