I don’t know if this has happened for you, but April has just flown by for me! I had many blogger events to attend, a few family get-togethers, a new mindfulness meditation class I started, as well as trying to train for a five kilometre race I’m planning to run with my sister. We had up and down weather in Toronto, mostly down in that it was colder than seasonal. I am excited about the warmer weather arriving this week! Anyway, here’s what I’m crushing on in April 2024:
A Happy Pocket Full of Money by David Cameron by Gikandi
I can’t say enough about this book. I’ve told family members and friends about it because it contains so many gems to improve your life. Although the title implies that it is strictly focused on obtaining more money, that is actually misleading. This book offers wisdom about how to improve your perspective on life, how to adopt a “wealth consciousness” that will lead you to understand that because you come from Source/God/the Universe, you are already wealthy and that you just need to claim your wealth. Published in 2001, A Happy Pocket Full of Money preceded the phenomally successful The Secret, the movie of which was produced in 2006. This is a book I will reread several times. I actually borrowed it from the library and made several notes on each chapter so that I could reread them from time to time.
Shiseido LacquerInk Lip Shine in Optic Rose
I have never used Shiseido products before, but I was looking for a pinky peach liquid lipstick and Shiseido had the perfect shade! Shiseido’s LacquerInk Lip Shine in Optic Rose applies really easily to your lips and has a gorgeous gloss. What I really like is its staying power! Even after eating, there is still a lot of colour on my lips, but unlike other liquid lipsticks, it is not difficult to remove. The Optic Rose shade leans more towards pink than peach and is perfect for summer! Purchase Shiseido LacquerInk Lip Shine at Sephora or Shoppers Drug Mart for CDN$35.
Garnier Hair Filler + Ceramide Shampoo, Conditioner and Bonding Inner Fiber Repair Pre-Shampoo Treatment
I recently attended an event hosted by Garnier where they introduced their new Hair Filler + Ceramide hair product line. The line is broken down into Moisture Repair, Strength Repair and Colour Repair. I was gifted with the Hair Filler + Ceramide Colour Repair Shampoo, Conditioner and Bonding Inner Fiber Repair Pre-Shampoo Treatment since I colour my hair. As a lifestyle blogger, I have received several brands of shampoo to try and I’m not always pleased with the results. This is not the case here. I noticed instant results after the first use of the Hair Filler + Ceramide Shampoo, Conditioner and Bonding Inner Fiber Repair Pre-Shampoo Treatment. My hair had so much more body after using the products. Because I have fine hair that can get weighed down if I use too much conditioner, I used the Bonding Inner Fiber Repair Pre-Shampoo Treatment only on the ends of my hair and I did the same for the conditioner. I’m really pleased with the results!
Chicago Med
I am so late jumping on the Chicago Med train! This TV series has been around for like, nine years, right? We were switching the channels recently and started watching it and became hooked with the storylines and layered character development. I have always been drawn to hospitals! Perhaps I was a doctor or nurse in a previous life? In any case, I love all the activity, especially in the emergency room (as long as I am not a patient lol). Centered around the doctors and nurses in the emergency department of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, the series was created by Dick Wolf (Law & Order) so that should tell you about the quality of the acting and writing. I love the wisdom of Oliver Platt’s character, Dr. Daniel Charles, the chief of the psychiatry department. He is often able to provide quiet and supportive counsel to the younger doctors dealing with stressful issues. I’m hooked on this show!
Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild Eau de Parfum Spray
I received a 30 ml sample of the new Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild Eau de Parfum Spray at the Bubbles & Brunch event. Although I tend to like woodsy fragrances and have shunned fragrances that are too sweet, I really like Daisy Wild. It’s a green floral with woodsy base notes. The top notes are Banana Blossom Accord (Blend); the middle notes are Jasmine, Macadamia Accord; and the base notes are Sandalwood and Vetiver Des Sables. It lasts for five or six hours on me, which is great. I also love the adorable bottle! The 30 ml Eau de Parfum Spray is CDN$120 and can be purchased at Sephora or Shoppers Drug Mart.
