The City of Toronto really comes alive in May since the warmer weather means that many festivals and events can take place outdoors. Whether you are visiting Toronto or are a resident looking for fun things to do in Toronto, there are many high profile events taking place in May 2024. The Art of Banksy in Toronto

Fans of world-famous street-artist Banksy will want to see The Art of Banksy, which opens in Toronto at Lighthouse Artspace on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The exhibit, which is the largest Banksy exhibit in the world, will feature more than 120 of Banksy’s works including his Mona Lisa painting, which is on loan to the collection for a limited time only from Brad Pitt. The collection includes prints, canvases, screenprints, hand-drawn sketches, sculptures and limited-edition pieces, as well as video testimonials by a close associate of the artist. Tickets for The Art of Banksy start at $44.99 and can be purchased online. Lighthouse Artscape is located at 1 Yonge Street.

Doors Open Toronto 2024

Doors Open Toronto is an annual free event allowing the public to access buildings that are not usually open to the public or cost an admission fee. It’s a great way to be a tourist in your city. Even though I’ve lived here all my life, there are so many buildings I have never seen so it’s a great opportunity for someone like me to explore my city. Doors Open Toronto takes place over the weekend of Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, 2024. Read more here about some of the buildings you can see at Doors Open Toronto 2024.

Concerts at Budweiser Stage in May 2024

Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Monday, May 20, 2024, 7:30 p.m. Neil Young & Crazy Horse bring their Love Earth Tour to Toronto. Tickets are US$58.31, US$148.50, US$248.60, US$605 and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.

Gluten Free Garage 2024

The 11th annual Gluten Free Garage food festival is taking place in Toronto and is tailored to anyone who lives a gluten-free lifestyle. The food festival takes place on Sunday May 26, 2024 at Arthubs Wychwood Barns. Guests will be able to purchase food from 75 vendors including Blossom Bakery, The Simple Kitchen, Planted, beck’s broth, Neal Brothers, Henry’s Tempeh, Made Good, Amino Balls, Mad Mexican, The Celeac Corner, Ste. Anne’s Bakery, The Low Carb Co., Brodo House, Wholly Veggie! and more.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $15 plus HST and should be purchased online in advance. There is no guarantee tickets will be available on the day of the event. Tickets offer a 2-hour timed entry at 10 a.m. to 12 noon; 12 noon to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

There is no onsite parking at Arthubs Wychwood Barns. There is street parking around the venue and there are two Green P parking lots on St. Clair Avenue (at Christie Street and at Kenwood Avenue). Arthubs Wychwood Barns is located at 601 Christie Street.

Lite-Brite: Worlds of Wonder

Illuminarium’s new cinematic show Lite-Brite: Worlds of Wonder is on every Saturday from May 8, 2024 to June 30, 2024. The show combines the nostalgia of Lite-Brite with the cutting-edge technology of Illuminarium. You’ll see thousands of colourful, interactive lights, and can play games at 12 gaming stations and create your own art in this immersive experience. Immerse yourself in one of your favourite childhood games!

Lite-Brite at Illuminarium shows are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Illuminarium Toronto is located at 28 Gristmill Lane in the Distillery District

Cirque du Soleil ECHO

One of the most exciting Toronto events in May 2024 is the arrival of Cirque du Soleil’s ECHO, which tells a story of connection, intention, and the bond between humans, animals and the world. The circus performance show features acrobatics, tech, and artistry, as ECHO highlights our interconnectedness and takes us on a journey of hope, optimism and empathy.

Cirque du Soleil ECHO runs until August 4, 2024 at Humber Bay Shores at 2150 Lake Shore Blvd. W. The show is 125 minutes long including a 25-minute intermission.

Tickets are $88, $124.50, $146, $152.50, $160, $195, $228, $254 and $350 and can be purchased at online at Cirque du Soleil.

Asian Night Market 2024

Asian Night Market returns to STACKT on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Visit more than 50 Asian-owned businesses selling Asian food and drink, and products such as jewelry, clothes, candles, accessories, art and more. Enjoy traditional performances, free cultural workshops, Chinese Lion Dance celebration, Indigenous Philippine Dance, and a Photobooth by SodaPop, and Asian community DJ stage with sets from WeTurnToRedValeroo + Iced Misto (4 p.m. to 10 p.m.) Some of the vendors include Oi Sushi, Jellybean Cake & Dessert, Saint Island Pies, Curryish, Kanto, Clever Clippings, The Boho Chic Boutique, Taco Cat, Besseha Jewellery, Pica Pica, Cecilia in the Summer, Hazel’s Best, Super Noodle Company.

The Asian Night Market is free, but tickets, which can be obtained online, are required.

  1. I’m not very familiar with Toronto. I’ve only crossed the border from NY state to shop at IKEA and the 3 story Michaels. Is the Asian Market Night something that is done throughout the year? That would be a fun evening out!

  2. We love visiting Toronto; you are right there so much to see and do. It’s been a while since we have been there, I think we will make a trip this year to see some of these events.
