The August Long Weekend 2024 is Saturday, August 3, 2024 to Monday, August 5, 2024. The Summer Olympics will be in full swing! Many people will be sitting on their docks up north enjoying the Civic Holiday Weekend! If you are visiting Toronto or staying in the city, there are plenty of events to enjoy. Continue reading to learn about Toronto events on the August Long Weekend 2024:

National Bank Open 2024

The National Bank Open returns to Toronto from August 3-12, 2024 and features the top women tennis players in the world competing for the top prize. On August 4 and 5, 2024 (Civic Holiday Weekend), the 407 ETR Family Weekend will take place with free admission and no tickets required. The weekend will feature qualifying rounds and open practice sessions.

The National Bank Open 2024 takes place at Sobey Stadium, 1 Shoreham Drive, North York.

Dream in High Park 2024

Enjoy Shakespeare’s Hamlet under the skies at Canadian Stage’s Dream in High Park 2024. The performance is outdoors at High Park Amphitheatre and begins on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Performances are Sundays at 7 p.m.; and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Tickets are Adults $32; and Child (16 and under) $19 and can be purchased online. High Park is located at 1873 Bloor Street West.

The Toronto Food Truck Festival 2024

The Toronto Food Truck Festival returns to Woodbine Park in 2024 from Friday, August 2, 2024 to Monday, August 5, 2024. Enjoy a wide variety of cuisine including vegetarian, vegan, Halal and gluten free options from popular Toronto Food Trucks, while listening to live music. Beer will be available for purchase. Some of the food trucks at the festival include Tornado Fries, Philthy Philly’s, Blue Claw Lobster Shack, Gourmet Guyz, Ali’s Wraps, Heavenly Dreams Ice Cream, Tut’s Egyptian Street Food, Greek Goat, Buster’s Sea Cove, HK Station, Ontario Corn Roasters, Cheesecake by Heirloom, Alifie’s Lemonade, Tropic Love, Super Churros, The Arepa Republic, Communal Eats, Rebozos Taqueria and Kathi Roll Express.

Contestants will be participating in eating challenges to win prizes. DJ and music performances by Pearl Jamming, The Hip Experience, Reckless Bryan and Monkey Wrench. SickKids Foundation is the charitable partner of Canadian Food Truck Festivals. Free admission. Please make a cash donation to the hospital at the entrance to the festival. Hours are Friday, August 2, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday, August 5, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Woodbine Park is located at 1695 Queen St. E. (Lake Shore Blvd. E. and Coxwell Avenue).

The Queens of R&B Tour at Scotiabank Arena 2024

The Queens of R&B Tour featuring XSCAPE & SWV with special guests Mya, Total and 702 comes to Scotiabank Arena on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $54.50, $71.50, $83.25, $93.75, $125 and $152.25 and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster. Scotiabank Arena is located at 40 Bay Street.

The Art of Banksy in Toronto

Fans of world-famous street-artist Banksy will want to see The Art of Banksy, which opens in Toronto at Lighthouse Artspace on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The exhibit, which is the largest Banksy exhibit in the world, will feature more than 120 of Banksy’s works including his Mona Lisa painting, which is on loan to the collection for a limited time only from Brad Pitt. The collection includes prints, canvases, screenprints, hand-drawn sketches, sculptures and limited-edition pieces, as well as video testimonials by a close associate of the artist.

Caribana Parade 2024

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Lake Shore Boulevard West will welcome North America’s largest Caribbean parade, featuring glorious masqueraders and steelpan performers. Toronto Caribbean Carnival’s Grande Parade is attended by visitors from all over North America. Masqueraders will begin the route at the assembly area at Exhibition Place and continue along Lake Shore Boulevard West.

Although most of the parade is free, admission applies to Exhibition Place where patrons have the opportunity to enjoy the parade of the Mas Bands. Masquerade bands end up in Exhibition Place where masqueraders can party until 6 p.m.

The parade begins at Exhibition Place and Lake Shore Boulevard West, 15 Saskatchewan Road.

Sleater-Kinney at The Danforth Music Hall

Indie rock band Sleater-Kinney performs at The Danforth Music Hall on Saturday, August 3,O 2024 at 7 p.m. Special guest is Die Spitz. Tickets are $56 and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster. The Danforth Music Hall is located at 147 Danforth Avenue.

Civic Holiday Weekend Events at Harbourfront Centre 2024

One of the most popular Toronto events on the August Long Weekend 2024 is Island Soul 2024, which returns to Harbourfront on the Civic Holiday Weekend with the following free concerts:

    • Thursday, August 1, 2024, 8 p.m.: Comedy Night with Trixx and Friends. Enjoy stand-up performances from North America’s top comedians hosted by Canadian comedian Trixx.
    • Friday, August 2, 2024, 7:30 p.m.: Jah’Mila and her 7-piece band perform Jamaican roots reggae.
    • Friday, August 2, 2024, 9:30 p.m.: Destra performs modern dancehall and audience favourites with DJ Power.
    • Saturday, August 3, 2024, 7 p.m.: Johnny Osbourne and Hardcore Band perform their Jamaican reggae and dancehall music.
    • Sunday, August 4, 2024, 7:30 p.m.: Two-time Grammy nominee Etana performs in concert.
    • Sunday, August 4, 2024, 9:30 p.m.: From Jamaica To Toronto With Love – Singer Jay Douglas performs reggae music in this Sunday evening concert.
