Since COVID-19 disrupted our lives, I have been reluctant to go to the grocery store for several reasons. My local grocery store has line-ups to get into the store even at 8 a.m.! My last visit to the grocery store involved me waiting in line to get into the store for 35 minutes, shopping for 15 minutes and then waiting another 20 minutes to check out. Shopping for groceries has now become stressful and exhausting! That’s why when I was approached by Doorstep Grocers to try out their grocery delivery service, I enthusiastically responded “Yes!” [Disclosure: I received a complimentary box of produce in order to write this review.]
Doorstep Grocers is a family-owned business that delivers grocery essentials right to your doorstep. They source their produce from local wholesalers so that they can offer you affordable prices on your produce and grocery essentials. Their goal is to promote social distancing and look after vulnerable members of the community or those who are in quarantine by offering contact-free grocery essentials right to your door. Unlike other grocery delivery services, Doorstep Grocers offers free delivery in 48 hours (with a minimum order of $44).

You can choose from a range of produce and meat boxes such as the Grill Master Box that contains veggies for the grill ($44) all the way up to the Chef’s Special that contains all the veggies you need to accompany your dinner entree, as well as salad greens and fruits ($72). There are also meat boxes, as well as a Basic Essentials Box ($25) that you can add on to your produce delivery. The Basic Essentials Box contains pasta, pasta sauce, Kraft Dinner, mushroom soup, tuna, eggs, oatmeal, a loaf of white/whole wheat bread, Uncle Ben’s rice and orange juice – grocery staples that many of us consume every week.

I received the Family Box ($69) delivered to my doorstep by a delivery person wearing personal protective equipment including a face mask and gloves. Everything I received was fresh and nothing had been substituted from the Family Box listing.
Another benefit of having fresh produce delivered to my door is when I have these healthy items in my fridge, I will definitely use them. Who wants all of this gorgeous fresh produce to go to waste? So receiving a weekly box of fresh fruits and veggies may result in the unexpected benefit of turning your self-isolation experience into a health retreat. With all of these veggies in my fridge, I am already inspired to become more creative with recipes. I am planning on using the cauliflower I received to make my favourite Indian Spiced Roasted Cauliflower recipe.
Here’s what I made for dinner tonight with the broccoli, onion, mushrooms, celery, red pepper and garlic I received in the Family Box.

Doorstep Grocers currently delivers to Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Milton and Brampton. They offer free delivery with a minimum order of $44 within their delivery map. They will deliver outside these areas for an additional fee.

Good to know. I am in LA, so I won’t be able to enjoy the service, but you made me want to try out. I will find a company here that can help. Thank you!
Doorstep Grocers Delivers sounds nice and very timely because going grocery store and markets nowadays are very hassle due to covid-19 pandemic. This is great option and hassle free.
I agree: it’s too stressful to go to the grocery store at the moment! Cheers, Lori
This is great service to have. Lately, my sister and I have opted to go for online food delivery for meat, fruits and veggies. It is so convenient. I love that Doorstep Grocers’ delivery crew practices safety and sanitation procedures. Their prices are very reasonable too!
Yes, having your groceries delivered is super convenient during this stressful time. I like that the Doorstep Grocers’ staff wear PPE too! Cheers, Lori
So true, home delivery for essential foods is so helpful! With the lockdown, for the first time, I had to shop online for veggies with home delivery.
I think many people are shopping online for groceries for the first time! Cheers, Lori
I totally agree with you on this…it makes much more sense to order a box like this than go to the shops at the moment x
It sure does! The line-ups at my local grocery stores are so long! Cheers, Lori
this sounds like a necessary and efficient service. Definitely beneficial during the lockdown
I agree that grocery delivery is becoming necessary for many people. Cheers, Lori
Wow, that’s the business we all need in this situation. Doorstep Grocers is a really nice initiative
Yes, I think many people are having groceries delivered to their homes now. Cheers, Lori
I’ve had fresh fugly fruit and veg delivered for over 6 months now and they’ve been a lifesaver these pandemic times. All I pop out for every fortnight is seafood, bread, tea, honey and ice cream. I’m in and out of the store and we have social distancing there as well. Even at the pharmacy.
We have social distancing in our grocery store too, but there is a long line up to get in. I agree that having fruits and veggies delivered is a lifesaver! Cheers, Lori
